Seger leads JFK past Champion

CHAMPION

Robert Seger and his Silver Bullet Band put on their night moves for a 49-31 victory. The Eagles (1-2) limited the Golden Flashes (0-2) to just two points in the first quarter, and 13 in the first half. Seger had five points and teammate Martae Hainesworth had a game-high 21 for the visitors. Champion was paced by Ross Farmer’s 14 points.

BOYS

Ursuline 64, Burton Berkshire 41

YOUNGSTOWN

Sophomore guard Ryan Stollo had seven 3-pointers while senior forward Devonte Jenkins added 20 points in the Covelli Centre game. Strollo made seven of 11 long-range goals.

Khiree Gregory had six of Ursuline’s 19 rebounds. Tim Goff’s 14 points paced Berkshire (0-1).

Brookfield 56, Pymatuning Valley 46

ANDOVER

Preston Sirochman had 13 points for the Warriors (1-1) and led the team in that category. Nine points by Jeremy Quinlan and five from Ryan Schugarts helped Brookfield hand the Lakers (3-1) their first loss to the season. Brandon Easton had a game-high 15 points of the home team.

GIRLS

Massillon Perry 57, Boardman 47

BOARDMAN

Massillon Perry outscored Boardman in the fourth period, 25-18, to seal the victory.

Shelbi Tilton had 13 points to lead Massillon Perry, while Kayleigh Lipke had 14 points and 12 of Boardman’s 28 rebounds.

The Spartans made only 18 of 34 free throws, missing 16. Massillon Perry had 38 rebounds. Both teams made 24 turnovers.

Chaney 48, Springfield 27

YOUNGSTOWN

The Cowgirls scored 15 and 13 points in the second and third quarters, respectively.

The Tigers had just four points in the opening quarter.

They were led by Brooke Schrieber, who had 12 points.

No individual statistics were provided for Chaney from the Covelli Centre game.

Pymatuning Valley 61, Brookfield 17

ANDOVER

Brooke Monnolly scored 12 points and Nicole Viroster for undefeated Pymatuning Valley (5-0).

For the Warriors (1-3), Danielle DiCistofaro scored five points.

West Branch 35, Carrollton 30

CARROLLTON

Brandi Snyder and Rebekah Zets each scored 11 points for the Warriors (2-3, 1-1 Northeastern Buckeye Conference).

Andrea Wingett made nine rebounds. For Carrollton (0-4, 0-3), Tess Sanders scored 16 points.
