Music marathon slated this week at Canfield
Five school bands will perform at Canfield High School over three straight nights beginning Tuesday. Admission to all shows is free.
Cookie and punch receptions will be in the high school cafeteria after the Wednesday and Thursday performances.
Tuesday, the middle school’s fifth and sixth-grade band will perform at 7 p.m. Directors Jim Volenik and Marc Pupino will lead the bands through “Informance,” a light melange of familiar tunes: “Siberian Sleighride,” “Rock the House,” and more.
On Wednesday, the concert and symphonic bands, comprised of seventh and eighth-grade students take the stage at 7 p.m. Their performances will include “Carols of Joy,” “Santa Rocks the House,” “Christmastime with Charlie Brown” and more.
On Thursday, Mike Kelly will lead the high school concert and symphonic bands beginning at 7 p.m. Selections will include Leroy Anderson’s “Christmas Festival,” Mr. Kelly’s perennial favorite “Sleigh Ride” and more.
Senior Rachel Smith will be featured on the trumpet in “Concert Etude.”
