Goat heads left outside Cincinnati homes

Someone left butchered goat heads outside three homes in an upscale city neighborhood, and police were trying to figure out who did it and why.

Two of the heads turned up on front porches and a third was found on the bed of a truck. The heads were found Wednesday morning at homes roughly within a one-mile area in the Hyde Park neighborhood, WKRC-TV reported. Butcher paper also was left at one of the homes.

Investigators have found nothing to indicate the motive or meaning behind the heads, police Detective Charles Zopfi said.

“I don’t think someone just decided to get up and deliver goat heads,” Zopfi said. “There is a meaning, just don’t know what it is.”

Goat meat is popular in some cultures and some area stores sell goat heads, Zopfi said. The heads can cost $25.

If the heads were left by pranksters, they succeeded in making the families uncomfortable, police said.
