Mike Shaffer’s 19 points led the Red Devils to victory. Also scoring in double figures were Steven Cribley with 14, Anthony Kirsch woth 13 and Robbie Ensign with 12. For the Panthers (0-2), Andy Holko scored 30 points.

Matt Latham scored 18 points for West Branch (1-3, 0-1 Northeastern Buckeye Conference), which clawed back from an early deficit to tie the game in the third quarter before the Aviators pulled away. Vern Martin scored 15 for Alliance (2-1, 1-0).
Mathews 83, Southington 70
VIENNA
Cole O’Dell had a game-high 36 points and was largely responsible for a huge second quarter to lift his Mustangs (1-1) to their first win of the young season. O’Dell had nine of his team’s 30 points in the second quarter. Turnovers by the Wildcats (0-2) led to several easy layups for Mathews and accounted for the points. Zach Young was second on the team with 13 points. As a team, the Mustangs went 20-of-29 from the free-throw line. For Southington, Andrew Hatfield had 15 points while teammate Eric Heikkila added 13. The team combined to go 21-of-36 from the line.
