Canfield runners honored at banquet

The 2010 Canfield High School cross country team was honored at the season-ending banquet Nov. 18.

The boys team was led by senior captains Robbie Reed, Paul Dahman and Brandon Mirto. The squad finished with a regular season record of 23-7 and second in the AAC championship meet, fifth in the overall Mahoning County Championship meet and seventh in the tri-county Suburban League Championship meet.

The girls team was led by senior captains Annamarie Braga, Bianna Kurty and Jillian Smith. They finished the season with a regular season record of 30-0.

The team took second in the AAC championship meet, first in the overall Mahoning County Championship meet and first in the Suburban League Championship meet.

First-year varsity letter-winners were freshmen Rollin Bresson and Anna Luongo; sophomores Andy Allen, Alex Nischwitz, Jamie Watt and Rachel Wyand; juniors Jon Hutnyan, Kaitlyn Dastoli, Katie Hunter, Brooke Lemmo, Kelly Rantilla and Lindsay Tapia; and seniors Paul Dahman, Andrew Franklin, Jordan Smith, Calin Solomon, Annamarie Braga and Bianna Kurty.

Second-year varsity letter-winners were sophomores Jen Love, Emma Lunne and Gia Marucci; and seniors Zach Brown and Jeremy Hammond.

Third-year varsity letter-winners were juniors Nick Tocicki, Marla Maruci and Kathryn Zetts; and seniors Brandon Mirto and Jessca Ensley.

Fourth-year varsity letter-winners were seniors Robby Reed, Jillian Smith, Katie Tiberio and Nicole Tiberio.

Calin Solomon and Jillian Smith received the Coaches Award. Rollin Bresson and Jamie Watt were awarded Rookies of the Year. Most Improved Runner awards went to Andy Allen and Lindsay Tapia.

Most Valuable runners were Jon Hutnyan and Jen Love. Robby Reed, Emma Lunne and Jen Love made first team all-AAC.
