Michigan 75, Utah 64

ANN ARBOR, MICH.

Darius Morris had 19 points, 10 assists and only one turnover to lead Michigan. Tim Hardaway Jr. scored 17 points for the Wolverines (7-2) while Zack Novak and Jordan Morgan each had 11 points. Jay Watkins had 17 points and Will Clyburn and Chris Hines scored 11 apiece for the Runnin’ Utes (6-3). They didn’t have a double-digit scorer until the final minutes in the game, much too late to make a comeback. Michigan took control with a 7-0 run midway through the first half, building a 13-point lead, and didn’t have much trouble keeping a comfortable margin. The Wolverines led 39-22 at halftime, and Morgan’s three-point play got them off to a good start in the second half. Hardaway later scored eight straight for Michigan on a dunk and a pair of 3-pointers to keep the lead at 17.

Iowa State 75, Iowa 72

IOWA CITY, IOWA

Scott Christopherson scored a career-high 30 points, including 24 in the second half, and Iowa State rallied for its first win in Iowa City since 2002. Freshman Melvin Ejim added 15 points for the Cyclones (8-2), who used seven 3-pointers from Christopherson to beat the rival Hawkeyes for the second year in a row. Iowa pulled within two with 1:08 left, but Christopherson buried a 3 from the corner with 40 seconds left to put the Cyclones ahead 73-68. Iowa’s Deyvn Marble was then fouled behind the 3-point line. But he made just one free throw, then committed a turnover that Diante Garrett converted into a game-clinching layup.
