POLICE CALLS
A summary of recent criminal activity in Girard, Hubbard and Liberty:
GIRARD
Dec. 3
Identity fraud: A Smithsoniam Street man found out someone had accessed his account to open two cell-phone services.
Theft: Police charged Hanna M. Walworth, 26, of 1005 N. State St., Girard, with stealing $24 worth of groceries from Santisi’s IGA Super Center, 419 N. State.
Theft: A man in the 500 block of Powers Avenue reported the theft of a Sony PlayStation 3 console and related accessories.
Dec. 5
Burglary: To a residence in the 400 block of Idaho Avenue, from which $130 was stolen.
Criminal mischief: A garage window was broken in the 20 block of East Liberty Street.
Arrest: Authorities responded to a fight in the 200 block of South Davis Street and charged 31-year-old Shawn R. Cordova, 248 S. Davis, with attempted vehicular assault and disorderly conduct after a man alleged Cordova had struck him with a vehicle. Cordova also faced two drug-related charges when, police said, a pill bottle issued to another person contained several different kinds of tablets.

Theft: A man reported a $600 laptop computer stolen from a Crumlin Avenue residence.
Theft: A $300 antique cast-iron bell was removed from a front porch in the 500 block of Trumbull Avenue.
Possible theft: A vehicle’s title and registration, as well as a handicap placard, were missing from a car in the 100 block of Stambaugh Street.
Criminal mischief/menacing: A South Davis Street man told officers another male threatened to kill the accuser’s children, and that he had struck a woman’s vehicle.
HUBBARD
Dec. 2
Drugs: An official with Hubbard High School, 350 Hall Ave., reported finding a bag of suspected marijuana.
Criminal damaging: Someone spray-painted and splattered mud on the rear of a building in the 20 block of Mock Street.
Bad check: A worker for Dave’s Super Tire, 612 N. Main St., reported a woman presented such a check.
Dec. 3
Arrest: Police took Michael Zapka, no age listed, into custody at his home, 411 Elmwood Drive, Hubbard, after Zapka’s former girlfriend said he had broken a window.
Dec. 6
Menacing: A woman reported a man continually drove by her Duer Court home and made threatening gestures as part of a pattern of harassment.
LIBERTY
Dec. 2
Theft by deception: A Logan Arms Drive woman told police she mailed an expensive wristwatch to a New Jersey jewelry-repair business and that the owner has failed to contact her or return the item.
Theft: A Hadley Avenue man discovered $725 missing from his home.
Theft: A Craig Drive man reported his wallet and another person’s birth certificate missing from his car.
Theft: A Youngstown woman recovered her purse she had accidentally left at a Goldie Road store, though her wallet was missing.
Dec. 3
Recovered property: Township police found an abandoned 1998 Chevrolet vehicle that had been stolen in Austintown.
Arrest: Vienna police handed to township authorities 48-year-old Lisa S. Santagata, 4601 Logan Way, Hubbard, who was wanted on an outstanding warrant.
Assault: A Youngstown man at a Belmont Avenue restaurant reported another man grabbed the accuser’s arm and pushed him into a wall.
Criminal mischief: A white substance was used to draw swastikas on a Jeep’s passenger side in the 4600 block of East Drive.
Counterfeit: A man tried to pay for groceries at Giant Eagle, 4700 Belmont Ave., with a phony $20 bill. However, the man said he had received the bill as change and was not charged with any wrongdoing.
Dec. 4
Arrest: Melvin L. White, 35, of 1424 Fifth Ave., Youngstown, was picked up in the 200 block of Goldie Road on a Mahoning County warrant accusing him of violating conditions of his probation related to a larceny charge.
Dec. 5
Theft: Taneisha G. Knight, 22, of 2468 Kenwood Drive, Warren, was charged with theft and driving under suspension after $167 worth of toys was stolen from Big Lots, 3491 Belmont Ave.
Burglary: Occurred in the 1900 block of Twin Oaks Drive. Missing were $100 and a car key.
Aggravated menacing: A charge was pending against a 48-year-old Warren man after a manager at Giant Eagle told officers a caller had threatened to kill him.
Dec. 6
Criminal mischief: Someone in the 4700 block of Logan Arms Drive deliberately added soap to a vehicle’s driver’s side.
Assault: A 16-year-old Girard boy faced charges of assault, criminal damaging and trespassing after police responded to a four-wheel vehicle having been used to damage a yard on Aurora Drive. While at the boy’s residence, authorities said, a man told them the teen had beaten up his son.
Dec. 7
Arrest: Howland police handed 28-year-old Mark W. Wagner, 2212 Robbins Ave., Niles, to township authorities. He was accused of failing to appear in court on a theft count.
