A Christmas parade is planned for 6 p.m. Saturday. Floats and participants will line up on Hall Avenue and then on West Liberty Street to Stewart Avenue, near the city building. Following tradition, Santa Claus will ride in on a decorated firetruck.
At the city building, there will be hot chocolate and cookies. Santa Claus will visit with children for about an hour after the parade concludes.

Santa Claus will be coming to the Hippodrome Grand Ballroom downtown from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday.
All profits from this event will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Four Howland High School seniors have partnered with the Mocha House to bring Santa to the city. Arianne Axiotis, Maria Xides, Amanda Fowler and Kelli Froats are working on this project through their English college- prep course. Axiotis says, “We are all excited to not only do something special for the kids in our area, but to be able to help make someone’s wish come true is quite rewarding.”
Besides breakfast, there will be crafts, face painting and a free picture compliments of CVS pharmacy of downtown Warren.
Tickets can be purchased at the Mocha House, 467 High St., in advance. The cost is $7 for adults and $5 for children. Tickets purchased at the door will cost $1 more.

Love Your Neighbor block watch will have its Christmas celebration at 6 p.m. Tuesday at St. Augustine Episcopal Church, 614 Parmelee Ave.
Members are reminded to bring covered dishes and nonperishable items.
Fire probe continues
WARREN
The state fire marshal’s office is continuing its investigation into the 9 p.m. Wednesday mobile-home fire in Warren Township at 2640 Highland Ave. SW, Lot 67.
The origin and cause of the fire is undetermined, and state investigators have not found specific evidence that indicates the family’s Christmas tree is to blame.
One adult and four children were able to escape safely. Another adult was not at home at the time of the fire. Investigators found no smoke alarms in the home.
Helping Toys for Tots
Panera Bread will join the Marine Corps Reserve today for the Toys for Tots campaign by giving a $5 Panera Bread gift card to all who donate $5 or more to Toys for Tots.
Panera’s fundraiser will take place at business locations in Austintown, Boardman, Canfield, Warren, Niles and Hermitage, Pa.
IT session at EGCC

Eastern Gateway Community College will have a second information session Thursday featuring the information technology computing application specialist program. The 9:30- to-11:30 a.m. session will be at the YWCA, 375 N. Park Ave.
Future students can learn more about IT careers and how this program can help them get ahead.
EGCC, through its partnership with Lorain County Community College, offers an associate degree and one-year credit-based certificate specifically developed to address employer needs in the IT field.
