Youngstown police investigating South Side shooting this afternoon

YOUNGSTOWN — Police are investigating an afternoon shooting on the city’s South Side.

City police received a 911 call at 1:21 p.m. from a home in the lower portion of East Philadelphia Avenue. Police confirmed one person had been shot at the home, but they would not release the name or condition of the victim.

Officers were reportedly told that someone knocked on the door of the house then fired into the home striking the victim.

Police were still on the scene investigating the matter as of 2:30 p.m. getting information.
