Wollet, Mangapora lift Cards past W.B.

CANFIELD
Cally Wollet scored 14 points to lead the Canfield High girls basketball team, which defeated West Branch 53-41 on Wednesday.
The Cardinals (2-1) jumped out to a 19-10 lead after the first quarter and never trailed. Canfield made 16 of 20 from the free throw line, compared to just 4 of 12 for West Branch, and it proved to be the difference.
Sabrina Mangapora added 12 points for the Cardinals, while Tia King scored 12 points to lead a balanced scoring effort for the Warriors (1-3).
Fitch 67, Chaney 48
YOUNGSTOWN
Freshman Megan Sefcik had a game-high 21 points for Fitch (4-0), which got off to a 20-10 lead after one quarter.
For Chaney (0-2), senior Laniece McRae had 10 points and nine rebounds.
URSULINE 57, SALEM 34
SALEM
Courtney Powell and Aurielle Irizarry each scored 16 points and Briana Curd had 13 for the Irish (1-1).
Salem dropped to 1-4.
Warren Harding 74, Ash. Edgewood 17
ASHTABULA
Kourtney Williams scored 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead four Raiders in double figures.
Diamonn Hymes had 13 points, Anita Brown had 10 points with 10 rebounds and Brianna McCurdy had 10 for the Raiders, who led 22-4 after the first quarter.
Jefferson 63, Niles 38
NILES
Sam Morford scored 28 points and Sarah Busch added 12 to lead Jefferson, which outscored Niles 40-20 in the second and third quarters to take control.
Rachel Sussman scored 11 points and Katie Hitchings added nine for Niles.
Mogadore Field 71, Southeast 51
RAVENNA
Emily Harsh scored 13 points to lead Southeast (1-3, 1-1 Portage Trail Conference), which fell behind 23-6 after one quarter.
Emily Mortimer and Hannah Mueller each scored 16 for Field (2-1, 1-1).
