Therapy dogs
NEW CASTLE, PA.
Jameson Hospice of Lawrence County is recruiting volunteers to bring their therapy dogs to support and encourage hospice patients and their families at nursing homes, personal-care homes, hospitals and personal residences. Therapy dogs must be certified by an accredited therapy-dog organization, be an AKA canine good citizen, show current vaccination records and be in good health. Vaccination clinics

The Pennsylvania Department of Health is offering free public influenza vaccination clinics Thursday, Friday and Saturday in communities statewide at 60 health centers. The clinics are from 2 to 7 p.m. Thursday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Blood provider
SHARON, PA.
Central Blood Bank, a regional blood-collection center based in Pittsburgh, recently became the sole provider of blood and blood products to Sharon Regional Health System. Central Blood Bank supplies blood products to more than 40 area hospitals in western Pennsylvania and northern West Virginia.
In preparation for Sharon Regional’s transition to a new blood supplier, the Health System and Central Blood Bank will begin enlisting local, Mercer County-based organizations to sponsor blood drives in 2011, said John Zidansek, president and chief executive officer of Sharon Regional.
