POLICE CALLS
A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:
POLAND
Dec. 2
Burglary: To a home in the 2200 block of Knollwood Drive. Stolen were a flat-screen TV, a laptop computer and digital photographs.
Dec. 3
Burglary: Someone broke into and ransacked a residence in the 2300 block of Country Lane before taking money and jewelry. The loss was estimated at $4,300.
BOARDMAN
Dec. 2
Theft: One package each of undergarments and mascara was stolen from Dollar General, 271 Boardman-Canfield Road.
Burglary: To a residence in the 4800 block of Erie Street via a rear door. An Xbox 360 game console and three TVs were stolen.
Theft: A food-stamp card was stolen in the 400 block of Annawan Lane.
Theft: A woman rented but failed to return 15 chairs to Party Max, 445 Boardman-Poland Road.
Breaking and entering: Someone entered The Tire Pad, 4730 Southern Blvd., through a rear garage window and took an undisclosed sum of money.
Theft: A woman reported her wallet stolen at a Boardman-Poland Road store.
Burglary: The front door to an apartment in the 4100 block of Hillman Way was forced open.
Breaking and entering: Someone broke into a vacant residence in the 200 block of Erskine Avenue by unknown means and removed copper piping.
Burglary: Police charged 21-year-old Dominic J. Suraci, 7406 E. Huntington Drive, Boardman, with burglary after a break-in at a nearby apartment, from which a 48-inch flat-screen TV, a laptop computer, a digital camera and a wristwatch were stolen. Suraci also faced charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and drug-abuse instruments.
Theft: Three Youngstown girls, one age 16 and two age 17, were accused of stealing nine articles of clothing from the J.C. Penney store in Southern Park Mall and released to the custody of their parents.
Assault: A 16-year-old Boardman boy was charged with assault on a teacher, a fifth-degree felony, after a teacher at Boardman High School, 7777 Glenwood Ave., alleged the boy had punched him several times in the back of the head as the accuser tried to break up a fight.
Dec. 3
Theft: A worker for a Lake Park Road business reported never having received a small package, a bank statement and a business check.
Fraud: A Bristlewood Drive woman told authorities a man in Jamaica called numerous times claiming she had won an international lottery, but first needed to send $150 to get the prize.
Theft: A validation sticker was removed from a vehicle in the 300 block of Melrose Avenue.
Assault: A woman told police another woman pushed and punched the accuser in front of the victim’s Beechwood Drive home.
Theft: Amy N. Hambrick, 22, of 7165 Locust Ave., Boardman, was accused of stealing three clothing items from Macy’s in Southern Park Mall.
Criminal damaging: A key was used to cause extensive damage to a vehicle’s finish in the 300 block of Tudor Lane.
Dec. 4
Burglary: Occurred in the 4300 block of Chester Drive after someone kicked in the apartment’s front door. Loose change and medication were taken.
Attempted fraud: A Paulin Drive woman told officers a man claiming to be from a Social Security office called to inquire to which bank her Social Security checks are sent.
Theft: Stacey E. Shopinsky, 30, of 3868 Robert Frost Drive, Austintown, was charged with stealing $23 worth of clothing from the J.C. Penney store.
Harassment: An elderly South Schenley Drive woman reported getting numerous unwanted calls.
Assaults: Three people gave conflicting versions of a fight they were in while in line at a Southern Park Mall store.
Criminal damaging: A vehicle’s passenger-side window sustained $200 in damage at Southern Park Mall.
Aggravated menacing: A Beechwood Drive man reported a former tenant threatened to shoot him.
Truck theft: A 2002 Ford F-150 truck was stolen in the 100 block of Overhill Drive.
Auto theft: A 2003 Honda Civic was stolen at an East Midlothian Boulevard business.
Dec. 5
Theft: Amanda L. Holmes and Stephanie R. Rodriguez, both 20 and of 2903 Rush Blvd., Youngstown, were accused of stealing $60.50 worth of clothing from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.
Harassment: A Sheridan Road man said someone called and threatened to beat him up.
Theft: A woman left Toys “R” Us, 317 Boardman-Poland Road, without paying for a shopping cart filled with merchandise.
Theft: A $300 lawn mower was stolen in the 300 block of Shields Road.
Theft: Four packages of undergarments were removed from Dollar General, 5953 South Ave.
Counterfeit: A phony $50 bill was passed at Walmart.
Criminal damaging: A car in the 4600 block of Southern Boulevard was found with a broken window.
Theft: Brittany T. Montgomery, 20, of 413 W. Earle Ave., Youngstown, was charged in the theft of $145 worth of men’s clothing from Macy’s. She was released on a summons.
