Grove City 61, Penn State Altoona 37

GROVE CITY, PA.

Brett Matson led Grove City (4-3) with 16 points Mike and Grist fired in a career-high 13. Junior guard Cody Fleeger grabbed six rebounds and Matson had five boards, helping Grove City own a 36-26 edge on the glass. Grove City took command of the game with a 24-5 run in the first half after Altoona had jumped out to a 10-2 lead. The Wolverines broke the game open in the second half by holding PSA scoreless for the first seven minutes.

Hiram 99, Westminster 81

NEW WILMINGTON, PA.

Hiram (4-4) handed Westminster (1-6) its fifth straight loss. Four Terriers scored in double digits led by Hassan Muhammad, who came off the bench and poured in a game-high 24 points on 8-11 shooting from the field. He also ripped down nine rebounds. Junior forward Rob Briggs equaled his season high with 16 points to lead the Titans. Briggs was 6-12 shooting from the field and he also pulled down a team-high nine rebounds. Freshman guard Anthony Thomas (Union) bucketed 12 points and junior forward Andy Timko (McDonald) sank 10 points for Westminster.

John Carroll 90, Mount Union 65

No. 17-ranked John Carroll forced a season-high 22 Mount Union turnovers in an Ohio Athletic Conference men’s basketball matchup. John Carroll (6-1, 2-0 OAC) ran out to a 13-3 lead as Mount Union (2-5, 1-1 OAC) committed turnovers on its first four possesions. The Blue Streaks ran out to a 15-point lead at the break (47-32) and extended that to as many as 29 points (86-57) before the 25-point final. Conor Tilow had 15 points to lead four John Carroll players in double figures. Dave Pellerite led Mount Union with 15 points and 10 rebounds.

WOMEN

John Carroll 84, Mount Union 82

Lee Jennings made a layup to give John Carroll the lead with 3.2 seconds left. The Purple Raiders’ ensuing inbounds pass was knocked back out-of-bounds with 2.7 seconds showing. After a Raider timeout, JCU foul and second Raider timeout, Mount Union set up an inbounds play with 1.2 seconds on the clock, however Rosa LaMattina missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer. Brittany Kilgore scored a career-high 30 points with 11 boards for Mount.

Grove City 74, Hiram 63

HIRAM

Grove City (4-3) was led in scoring by Leah Gibson with a game-high 28 points on eight-of-12 shooting, including five-of-eight from 3-point range. She also grabbed seven rebounds. Hiram (4-1) was led in scoring by junior guard Tiffany Shields who equaled her career-high with 22 points on eight-of-17 shooting.

Pitt-Johnstown 65, Slippery Rock 50

JOHNSTOWN, PA.

Johnstown ran out to a 16-2 lead early in the first half and never looked back. The Rock (0-6) struggled out of the gate as Pitt-Johnstown (3-4) opened up a 14-point lead after seven minutes before cruising to the win, despite not scoring in the final 4:02 of the game.

Chatham 60, Westminster 50

PITTSBURGH

The Titans (2-6, 0-3 PAC) suffered their first loss to the Cougars in nine meetings. Senior Kayla Hilko led Chatham as she scored 19 of her season-high 22 points in the second half.
