Police say expletive prompted Pa. man's shooting

SAEGERTOWN, Pa. (AP) — A northwestern Pennsylvania woman has been ordered to stand trial on charges she fatally shot her husband and self-described “soul mate” after police say he called her a vulgar name during an argument.

Patricia Oliver, 53, of Conneautville, was held for court on a charge of criminal homicide after a state trooper testified Tuesday about the Oct. 5 shotgun slaying of her 63-year-old husband, Anthony Oliver.

Trooper Erie Mallory says Oliver called 911 after shooting her husband in the chest, telling police “they were soul mates” who did everything together and had no history of abuse in their relationship.

Asked why Oliver shot her husband, Mallory told a Crawford County prosecutor, “The best I could gather was because she was called a [expletive].”
