TROY, Ohio
A man has pleaded guilty to charges of murder and child endangering in the death of his 8-month-old son, who police say apparently had been bitten and possibly strangled before his death from multiple blunt-force injuries.
Jason Durig, 29, of Troy, entered the pleas Monday in Miami County Common Pleas Court in western Ohio, Prosecutor Gary Nasal said Tuesday. There was no plea deal, and Durig faces a mandatory 15 years to life in prison at his sentencing Jan. 24, the prosecutor said.
Durig and his wife, Tara Durig, were arrested July 26 after police responded to their 911 call from their home and found their baby, Caleb, dead.
Tara Durig, 28, has pleaded not guilty to charges of permitting child abuse and child endangering. Her trial is scheduled for Tuesday.
