PEARL HARBOR REMEMBERED

Three Trumbull County men, two in the Navy and one in the Army, were stationed in Hawaii at the time of the Japanese surprise attack on Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941.

ALFRED M. GASKELL

Age: 87. Residence: Howland; grew up in Montana. Family: Wife, LouRene Jones; children, Karen Ann Haryu of Toledo and Lesley R. Gaskell of Howland; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Occupation: Sheet metal worker at Liberty Erection Service. Military: Enlisted in the Navy on Aug. 8, 1941, and was discharged in July 1946 as a petty officer 3rd class. Veterans organizations: American Legion Post 700 in Howland; VFW Post 1090 in Warren; Pearl Harbor Survivors Association Mahoning Valley Chapter No. 5.

EARL H. HUSMAN SR.

Age: 90 Residence: Braceville; grew up in Cleveland. Family: Wife, Norma; children, Earl H. Husman Jr. in Maryland, Keith Husman of Middlefield, Tod Husman, deceased, Donald Husman of Champion; James Balzer of Braceville, Patricia Brobst of Southington; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Occupation: Navy, 20 years, discharged with rank of chief petty officer; after he retired from the Navy, sold vehicles at Sanzenbacher Dodge in Warren. Veterans organizations: Pearl Harbor Survivors Association Mahoning Chapter 5.

JAMES A. WERNER

Age: 89.SFlbResidence: Farmdale; grew up in Pittsburgh. Family: Wife, Carol; children, Cathy Shannon of Rootstown, Sheri Nellis of Bristoville, Shannon Soroky of Akron, Victoria Faustino of Liberty; and 11 grandchildren. Occupation: Packard Electric in Warren, 36 years. Military: Army, enlisted Jan. 3, 1940, discharged in 1946 with the rank of staff sergeant. Education: Left Brentwood High School in Pittsburgh as a senior to join the Army. Veterans organizations: Pearl Harbor Survivors Association Mahoning Chapter 5.
