Women robbed in Youngstown on Friday, Sunday
YOUNGSTOWN — Police are investigating the robberies of two women in two different city locations.
A 31-year-old Vestal Road woman told police she went to an ATM Friday morning on West Federal Street downtown and made a withdrawal of more than $300. Reports say the woman gave her son a few dollars then walked to the Western Reserve Transit Authority station downtown.
The woman told officers she was waiting for a bus and holding her daughter when a man in his 20s with braids in his hair and wearing a tan coat pulled out a handgun and demanded her money.
The woman, reports said, told the man she did not have any money, but the man told her he watched her make a withdrawal from the ATM. The man took the woman’s money and ran off.
Another woman told police she was sitting in the driveway of her Bennington Avenue home on the city’s East Side Sunday afternoon when a man with facial hair and wearing an orange hoodie and blue jogging pants snatched open her car door. The man, she told police, told her to hand over all her possessions, but she refused to give up her cell phone.
The woman said the man reached into the car and snatched her purse from her hands. The man ran away with the purse containing about $500 and prescription medications.
