Newton Falls man arraigned on felony drug charge
NEWTON FALLS — A city man was arraigned on a felony drug-possession charge in Newton Falls Municipal Court after police found indications of drug abuse at an apartment where his roommate was found dead Sunday.
Eric T. Thompson Jr., 21, of 910A Newton Drive, was released today after posting $1,500 bond. He returns to court at 11 a.m. Jan. 25 on the felony charge, which carries a penalty of up to 12 months in prison if convicted.
Police Chief John Kuivila said police officers and paramedics were called to Thompson’s apartment at 7:11 p.m. and found Randy Wilson, 25, of the address unresponsive.
Wilson was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police found no signs of foul play in Wilson’s death but did find indications of drug abuse, Kuivila said, adding that additional charges against Thompson are likely.
