The Youngstown & Warren Inventors Association will meet Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Liberty Township administration building, 1315 Church Hill-Hubbard Road. The guest speaker will be Andrew Spriegel, a patent attorney, inventor and owner of Spriegel Associates law firm in Hudson, Ohio. Spriegel, who writes and publishes books for inventors, will give a lecture titled “Turning your Ideas and Products into Cash.” The meeting is open to the public.

Scrapbook Studio opens, to host events

The Scrapbook Studio & Caf , a full-service retail scrapbook store and training center, has opened at 6 Youngstown-Warren Road. The store sells a full line of scrapbooking materials and offers a digital scrapbook station with a photo printer, a comfortable cropping and training center and Scrapbooker-For-Hire services. The studio will host a four-part class series in scrapbooking design starting Tuesday. The course is designed for beginners but is open to seasoned scrapbookers. Other upcoming events include courses in introductory photography and digital scrapbooking and a scrapbooking pajama party.

Local company chosen for projects

Northern States Metals, the local manufacturer of the Solar FlexRack, has been chosen to supply the panel- mounting systems for two solar-energy projects in Ontario, Canada. The company will supply about 9,400 Solar FlexRacks to mount the solar panels for the 12-megawatt St. Isidore Project, near the town of St. Isidore, and for the Elmsley Solar Project, which is made up of two 12 mega-watt sites near Lombardy in Rideau Lakes Township. The projects, sponsored the government of Ontario’s Renewable Energy Standard Offer Program, are expected to generate electricity for nearly 10,500 homes.

WeatherTite gives funds to hospital

WeatherTite Windows recently presented a $2,400 donation to Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley, representing the proceeds of the Girard company’s recent promotional campaign. The company donated $5 to the hospital for every WeatherTite Ultra Plus, WeatherTite Classic or WeatherRite Window sold between Sept. 7 and Oct. 4.

Tax seminar set

The Mahoning Valley Accounting Society will give an update on business taxes at a seminar Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at A La Cart Catering, 429 Lisbon St. The workshop is designed for certified public accountants, bookkeepers and financial professionals but is open to anyone. The cost of the seminar is $199 for members and $229 for nonmembers. The cost includes lunch and a copy of the 2010 small business edition of The Tax Book.
