Ohio Chancellor Fingerhut to address 750 YSU fall graduates

YOUNGSTOWN
Eric D. Fingerhut, chancellor of the Ohio Board of the Ohio Board of Regents, will receive an honorary degree and speak at YSU’s fall commencement next Sunday at 2 p.m. Beeghly Center.
Salvador Bolan, who will graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Education, will be the student speaker.
About 750 students will receive diplomas at the ceremony.
In March 2008, Fingerhut delivered Ohio’s 10-year Strategic Plan for Higher Education to the governor and Ohio General Assembly, which outlines strategies to make higher education more accessible, efficient and affordable. He previously was a member of the business faculty at Baldwin-Wallace College and was a member of the Ohio State Senate in 1991-92 and 1999-2006, representing the eastern half of Cuyahoga County. He received the “Senator of the Year” award from Omeris Ohio’s Bioscience Association in 2005, the utstanding Public Service Award from the Ohio State University John Glenn School of Public Affairs in 2008 and the Public Servant of the Year Award from the Association for Career and Technical Education in 2008.
