NEEDLE’S EYE Other programs

Here are some other programs offered by the Christian counseling center, 74 Kenmore Ave., on Youngstown’s South Side.

Good News Club: A drug-and-alcohol prevention program, is from 10 a.m. to noon Saturdays. It includes a monthly overnight activity, The Princess, for 6- to 12-year-old girls. This program helps the girls develop self-esteem, social skills and Christian values.

Butterflies: A weekly mentoring group for 6- to 12 -year-old girls, which meets from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Thursdays. Activities include discussion, responsibility charts, crafts, Bible and etiquette lessons.

Fresh Voices: A program divided into two groups, ages 12-15 and 16-19, meets from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. the second and fourth Saturdays. Discussions, spoken word and community service are the main elements of this group.
