Eagle Scout award
Michael J. Drajic, son of Steve and Mechelle Drajic of Boardman, has received his Eagle Scout Award, Boy Scouting’s highest honor.
His reception was at Boardman United Methodist Church’s Fellowship Hall. He is a member of Western Reserve Council, Boy Scouts of America Troop 46. His scoutmaster is Eric Grabman.
Michael earned both the Ad Altare and Pope Pius XII religious awards and Order of the Arrow. He is a two-year Boy Scout representative for the Mahoning County Junior Fair Board.
For his Eagle Scout service project, he added a wheelchair access path and bench to the St. Luke Catholic Church outdoor worship space.
Michael is a senior at Cardinal Mooney High School, where he is a member the marching band, jazz band and liturgical music ministry.
DOCTORATE
Physical therapy
Kimberly McKay, a daughter of Larry and Debbie McKay of Boardman, recently received her doctorate of physical therapy degree from Boston University.
She is a 2006 graduate of Ohio University, Athens, where she received her bachelor’s degree, and a 2002 graduate of Boardman High School.
She lives in Maryland, where she has a position with Maryland Sports Care and Rehabilitation.
State Patrol
Trooper of the year
Troy J. Homrighausen of the Ohio State Highway Patrol has been selected as the 2010 Trooper of the Year at the Hiram Post and for the Berea District.
Homrighausen, 39, now is in contention for statewide Trooper of the Year Award.
He joined the Patrol in 1998 and has served at the Hiram Post since 2006. He is originally from Poland and a graduate of Poland Seminary High School. His achievements include: the safe driving ribbon, physical fitness ribbon with star, and he was an instructor at the patrol training academy for three years.
Homrighausen and his wife, Stephanie, live in Canfield with their children, Christopher, Connor, Kayla and Erin.
Telecommunications
Josa Guarnieri of Boardman, a state patrol dispatcher, has been selected for the 2010 Ohio State Highway Patrol Telecommunications Award at the Ravenna Dispatch Center.
Guarnieri joined the patrol in 2009 and has served at the Ravenna Dispatch Center. Originally from Clearwater, Fla., and a graduate of Seminole High School, Guarnieri attended the University of South Florida, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology.
