Griffin will serve as interim director of The Needle’s Eye

Southside Ministries’ The Needle’s Eye, 74 Kenmore Ave., has announced an interim director, Dennis Griffin, who also serves as the men’s support-group director.
A 35th anniversary celebration will be announced in 2011. Needle’s Eye was founded by the late Irma Davis.
Among ongoing programs are a Bible study that meets from 10 a.m. to noon Fridays, and Emaline Smith, a staff member, leads the women’s support group activities from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesdays. Participants also are learning various crafts.
Needle’s Eye also offers a tutorial program for students from first through 12th grades that currently involves 20 students. They receive help with homework and assignments from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Mondays. Coree Jacobs, Janine Motley and Kayla Johnson supervise.
In January, Johnson, an information technology professional, will be teaching computer-skills classes. Class times will be announced.
The Needle’s Eye is a nonprofit organization that relies on donations from the general public, churches and philanthropic gifts. As a Christian counseling center, all programs are offered free.
