BOARDMAN
Seventeen young women from area high schools were presented as debutantes during the 55th annual Cinderella Ball sponsored by the Junior Civic League.
The formal gala took place Nov. 26 at Mr. Anthony’s Banquet Center.
More than 700 were in attendance as the debutantes and their escorts were introduced and as Miss Cinderella was crowned during the festive event.
Asia Walker, daughter of Shawn and Tahnee Hall and Darnell Walker Sr., was crowned Miss Cinderella.
In addition to receiving the title, she will be awarded a $2,500 scholarship in June 2011 at the annual JCL Scholarship Luncheon.
Miss Walker attends Chaney High School and is a member of Rising Star Baptist Church. She plans to pursue a degree in fashion merchandising at the University of Akron. She was escorted by Michael Cotton, also a student at Chaney High School.
Also singled out for honors at the event were Keisha Talley, who was named the first attendant, and Tiara Williams, the second attendant.
All proceeds from the Cinderella Ball go toward scholarships for students.
