Harrington, Hoppe & Mitchell attorney J. Bradley Allison is leaving the law firm at the end of 2010 to become a full-time magistrate in the Columbiana County common pleas court. Allison is working with Harrington, Hoppe & Mitchell member Shawna L’Italien and attorneys Neil Maxwell and Christopher Baronzzi to transition client responsibilities in the upcoming weeks. Allison has been with the firm for nearly two years.
Betras, Maruca, Kopp & Harshman recently announced that attorneys Dominic Frank and Greg Diulus will now have “Of Counsel” status with the firm. Frank, who practices at the firm’s East Liverpool office, has experience in several fields, including criminal law, probate law, personal injury and family law. He earned his law degree from the Duquesne University School of Law and is a member of the state and county bar associations. Diulus, who represents clients in western Pennsylvania, has a range of practice areas, including personal injury, wrongful death, family law and criminal law. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh Law School.
Betras, Maruca, Kopp & Harshman also introduced Atty. William Bartos as the newest addition to the firm. A Poland native, Bartos earned his bachelor’s degree from Mt. Union College and graduated cum laude from Ohio State University’s Moritz College of Law this year. He scored in the 99th percentile on the July 2010 Ohio Bar Exam and was sworn in as an attorney Nov. 8. Bartos will practice out of the firm’s Canfield office.

Marisha Agana of Pediatric Corporation of Warren, Inc. has been appointed to the board of directors for the Ohio Foundation of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Agana is involved in two special programs implemented by the Academy — Reach Out and Read Ohio and the “My Story” Foster Care Program — and is working to raise $100,000 to help maintain their solvency. Medical professionals participating in Reach Out and Read Ohio incorporate literacy into regular pediatric checkups through developmentally-appropriate books and advice to parents on the importance of reading aloud. The program begins at the 6-month checkup and ends at age 5, with an emphasis on children in low-income communities. The “My Story” program provides medical-care providers with information about caring for foster children and provides backpacks that include a child’s portable medical record, social and emotional information for foster parents and other tools to help kids get accustomed to a new environment.

Susan Stricklin has been named director of marketing for Simon Roofing, a national roofing manufacturer and service provider based in Boardman. In this role, Stricklin will be responsible for developing and executing marketing strategies to support the company’s business growth and build brand awareness. Until recently, Stricklin served as vice president of marketing for Home Savings and Loan in Youngstown. She earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Youngstown State University.
The Builders Association of Eastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania has named Jim Breese as the organization’s 2011 president. Breese is the president of Jack Gibson Construction in Warren. He earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Slippery Rock University.
Members of The Builders Association elected Breese and other 2011 executive committee officers at its annual meeting Dec. 1. Joe DeSalvo, executive vice president of DeSalvo Construction Company in Hubbard, was named first vice president. Ed Stevens, president of Stevens Masonry Construction in New Castle, and Roger Kreps, owner and president of Roger Kreps Drywall & Plastering in Youngstown, were elected second and third vice president, respectively. Brian Downie, corporate secretary for Alex Downie & Sons Company in Youngstown, was named secretary-treasurer. Kevin Reilly was re-elected as executive vice president of The Builders Association. 2010 president Harry Grafton, president and owner of Grafton Construction in New Castle, will step down at the end of the year.
