Campbell police arrested a man Friday in a Nov. 29 home invasion, in which a baby and a woman were threatened at gunpoint.
Andrei Cash, 22, is charged with aggravated robbery, felonious assault and intimidation of a witness, said Detective Sgt. John Rusnak. The Violent Crimes Task Force arrested Cash at his Whipple Avenue residence.
Cash and another man are accused of pushing a woman and her baby into their home on Sixth Street at 12:50 a.m. before pointing a gun at the woman and demanding money.
When the woman could not comply, Cash is accused of bashing her head against the wall as another man pointed a gun at her 1-year-old. The men eventually left.
Rusnak said officers had a suspect the night of the home invasion but finished the investigation before arresting him.
“It was just a matter of completing the investigation, filing charges and sending officers out to get him,” Rusnak said. “We just didn’t want to put [the suspect’s name] out there yet and make the suspect get jumpy and take off.”
In August, Cash was charged with inciting to violence, aggravated menacing, rioting, misconduct at an emergency and inducing panic involving an out-of-control crowd at the scene of a homicide.
In 2008, Cash was charged with drug trafficking and pleaded guilty to three counts in 2009. He was sentenced to three years’ community control of Adult Probation Authority.
In 2006, he was charged with driving without a license or car insurance.
In 2006, he was also charged with possession of crack and allowed to enter a treatment program during his probation. He was sentenced to 12 months in prison after violating that probation in 2007.
Cash was charged with felonious assault in 2006, but that case was later dismissed.
