Police are investigating four robberies in a 24-hour period in various parts of the city.

According to police reports, a 42-year-old Homestead Avenue woman was driving along McGuffey Road near Albert Street on the East Side about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday when her car ran out of gas.

The woman told police she got out of her car to walk to a nearby gas station when she was approached by two men, both about 20, and wearing dark clothes.

The woman told officers both men beat her in the head with a hard object then took $30 from her pockets and ran off. The woman told police she walked back to her car, where a passer-by helped put gas in her car and followed her to the hospital early Thursday.

Reports say a 50-year-old McGuffey road man in the same area of McGuffey and Albert Street was robbed at gunpoint at a gas station on a street corner.

The man told officers he was approached by two males while pumping gas.

The victim told officers that one of the men placed a gun to his back and demanded all his belongings.

The men took the victim’s wallet and ran off. The victim did get the wallet back, minus two bank cards and a driver’s license, after someone found it and turned it over to a church on the South Side.

A 67-year-old homeless man told police he was standing outside a store on Market Street just after 10 p.m. Thursday when someone came up from behind, put him in a choke hold and took $180 from his pockets before the assailant ran away.

A 51-year-old Miltonia Street man told police he also was robbed on the South Side just before 7 p.m. Wednesday.

The man told officers he was coming out of a house on Carroll Street when two men approached, acting as if they were carrying guns and demanding money.

The man told police he did not actually see a firearm, but the thieves took a cellular phone and $90.
