UNIVERSITY OF FINDLAY, Findlay, Ohio

Benjamin Barth, a sophomore pharmacy major, has been elected president of the University of Findlay’s Lacrosse Club. A 2009 graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School, Barth is the son of Kathy and Barry Barth of Boardman.

Michelle Billen, a senior theater performance major, has been elected president of the University of Findlay’s Alpha Psi Omega. A 2007 graduate of Kennedy Catholic High School, Billen is the daughter of Frances and Kent Billen of Masury. At UF, Billen also participates in choir and theater.

PALMER COLLEGE OF CHIROPRACTIC, Davenport, Iowa

Dr. Joseph M. Shuluga Jr. received his chiropractic degree during the Oct. 22 commencement exercises at Palmer College of Chiropractic, Davenport Campus. Palmer College is the founding college of the chiropractic profession. Dr. Shuluga is the son of Joseph and Leida of Lowellville and is the grandson of Joseph and Stella Shuluga of Campbell and George Siva of Lowellville and the late Anna Mae Siva. Dr. Shuluga is a graduate of Lowellville High School and Youngstown State University with a bachelor of science in biology. He lives in Lowellville and will be an associate at Dr. Finn Chiropractic Group in Seven Fields, Pa. To qualify for the doctor of chiropractic, Dr. Shuluga completed five academic years of professional study at Palmer College of Chiropractic, graduating with honors (cum laude). He also was a clinical teaching assistant.

ASHLAND UNIVERSITY, Ashland, Ohio

Wesley Washington of Youngstown is a member of the Guitar Club at Ashland University. He is the son of Diane Washington and is majoring in criminal justice. The Guitar Club is an organization that encourages musical growth through guitar instruction and application. It stresses the importance of musicianship and camaraderie among fellow guitarists and musicians. Goals of the Guitar Club include practical study of music theory and guitar performance and observation of various genres, including classical, jazz and blues. The Guitar Club sponsors and performs at Ashland University campus events regularly and is open to any guitarist or musician.

Samantha Donges of Berlin Center is a member of the Colleges Against Cancer organization at Ashland University. She is the daughter of Craig and Mary Ann Donges. Colleges Against Cancer is an organization sponsored by the American Cancer Society. Across the nation, colleges and universities have chapters working to eliminate cancer in the areas of advocacy, cancer education, Relay for Life and survivorship. Ashland’s chapter, in its second year, works to raise money for the American Cancer Society and has given gifts to those affected by cancer in the Good Shepherd Nursing Home. They also host a Relay for Life event in the spring.
