Bauman voluntarily recalls cider
Staff report
RITTMAN
Bauman Orchards of Rittman has issued a voluntary recall of its apple cider produced since Sept. 1 because of concerns over whether the cider was properly pasteurized.
The state did not order the company to recall the cider, but the company did so out of caution, Doug Bauman, company vice president, said in a statement.
Bauman also stated the company has submitted its cider to routine testing by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, and no problems, bacteria or contamination have been discovered. No reports of illness have been made, he added.
The cider being recalled has the UPC code of 2290600128 on gallons and 2290600064 on half-gallon jugs.
Anyone who has the cider has the option of returning it to the place of purchase for a refund. For more information, call Bauman Orchards at 330-925-6861.
