19-year-old charged in New Castle teen's death

NEW CASTLE, Pa.

New Castle police have charged a man in a Nov. 30 homicide on Halco Drive.

Tavin Wise, 19, of New Castle is charged with criminal homicide and two counts of aggravated assault in the shooting death of Trevaughn Thompson, also 19 and of New Castle.

Thompson suffered at least one gunshot wound and was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center on Tuesday, where he later died around 8 p.m., according to Police Chief Thomas Sansone.

Sansone said officers were able to apprehend Wise after identifying him as a suspect based on eyewitness accounts and a video from housing authority surveillance.
