A summary of recent criminal activity in Canfield city and Austintown:

CANFIELD CITY

Aug. 23

Harassment: A woman from the 400 block of S. Broad Street reported receiving a harassing text message.

Warrant: Police arrested Andrew D’Apolito, 53, 4560 Rhode Island Drive, Apt. 6, Youngstown, on a warrant charging failure to appear on a traffic charge at Western Reserve Road and Columbiana-Canfield Road.

Aug. 24

Theft: Police arrested Wendy Smith, 50, 6707 Schafer Ave., Cleveland, on charges of identity fraud, possessing criminal tools and complicity and David Marks, 9329 Manor Ave., Cleveland, on charges of identity fraud, possessing criminal tools and complicity in the attempt to make a withdrawal from someone else’s account at Huntington Bank, 11 Manor Hill Drive.

Aug. 25

Fraudulent charges: A Talsman Drive resident reported fraudulent charges for an $1,800 computer, $2,000 in Avon products and another charge of $2,300 were attempted to his bank credit card. The account company had blocked the charges.

Drug abuse: Police arrested John Kale, 47, 1229 Columbiana-Canfield Road, Columbiana, on charges of drug abuse and paraphernalia in the possession of 15 grams of marijuana and two tinfoil pipes with burnt marijuana residue, a pair of forceps with a burned tip, and a pack of rolling papers at Broad and Kirk streets.

Aug. 26

Drug abuse: Police arrested Joseph Zimmerman, 19, 3852 New Road, Austintown on charges of drug abuse after finding one gram of suspected marijuana on him.

Aug. 27

Drug paraphernalia: Police charged Joseph Blasens, 25, 3924 Staatz Drive, Youngstown, with possession of drug paraphernalia on W. Main Street after police found a pipe with marijuana residue in it and a straw with possible cocaine residue.

Aug. 28

Warrant: Police arrested Nicholas Holt, 27, 273 Carriage Hill, Apt. 301, on a failure-to-appear warrant for mayor’s court.

AUSTINTOWN

Aug. 23

Breaking and entering: A woman came back after hours and stole $110 from the cash drawer at Austintown Beverage, 4903 Mahoning Ave.

Warrant: Police arrested Anthony Singer, 24, 2230 S. Raccoon Road, on a warrant charging failure to appear and contempt of court on a child-support charge.

Felonious assault: Police arrested Monica Bates,45, 4796 Woodhurst Blvd., Apt. 4, on a felonious-assault charge in a domestic-violence case at her home.

Theft: A 26-inch television was taken at Walmart, 6001 Mahoning Ave.

Obstructing official business: Police arrested Timothy Terrago, 32, 7031 West Blvd., Apt. 58, Youngstown on a charge of obstructing official business at Four Mile Run Road and Mahoning Avenue.

Aug. 24

Recovered property: A man’s wallet was recovered at the Comfort Inn, 5425 Clarkins Drive.

Warrant: Police arrested Danielle Richardson, 32, 147 E. Marion Ave., Youngstown, on a warrant charging failure to appear on a theft charge at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles, 242 Federal Plaza, Youngstown.

Breaking and entering: Premier Siding and Roofing, 1501 S. Raccoon Road, was broken into but nothing was missing.

Attempted theft: Juveniles were apprehended in the attempted theft of an auto at a home in the 1000 block of Paisley Avenue.

Aug. 25

Attempted breaking and entering: Two storage units were damaged at EZ Storage, 5214 Mahoning Ave.

Theft: A debit card and cash were stolen from an auto in the driveway of a home in the 5000 block of Cider Mill Crossing.

Warrant: Police arrested Marvin Clardy, Jr., 131 N. Kimberly Ave., Apt. 27, on a warrant for failure to appear.

Theft: Assorted currency was stolen from an auto at a home in the 5000 block of Cider Mill Crossing.

Theft: James Sellers,40, 321 Glenwood Ave., Youngstown, was charge with taking food at Sheetz Gas Station, 5499 Mahoning Ave.

Fraud: Unauthorized charges were made to a credit card at a home in the 5000 block of W. Rockwell Drive.

Child neglect: A woman reported that a 3-year-old child was left alone in a car at Giant Eagle, 5220 Mahoning Ave.

Vandalism: A Pepsi coin machine was pried at the Skate Zone, 5420 Mahoning Avenue.

Telecommunications harassment: Unwanted calls from an ex-boyfriend were reported at an apartment in the 900 block of Compass West.

Criminal damaging: A swimming pool was damaged at a home in the 3000 block of Huntmere Avenue.

Theft: Four male juveniles stole two T-shirts and a Noxema container at Dollar General, 1739 S. Raccoon Road, and fled.

Theft: Two female juveniles stole $38.57 in merchandise from Walmart before they were stopped as they left the store. They were handed over to their parents.

Theft: Police arrested Carl Henneman, 34, 131 N. Kimberly Ave., Apt. 64, in the theft of $239 worth of Playstation 3 games at Walmart.

Aug. 26

Theft: Male suspects walked out on a food bill for three meals totaling $21.31 at Denny’s, 4927 Mahoning Ave.

Theft: Jewelry was taken from a home in the 2000 block of Barrington Drive.

Theft: An unidentified male suspect stole $154 in body sprays and deodorant from Walgreen Drug Store, 40 N. Meridian Road.

Burglary: A house was entered and money taken at a home in the 6000 block of Fairview Road.

Aug. 27

Theft: A bicycle was borrowed but never returned at a home in the 4000 block of Burkey Road.

Criminal damaging: A cement deer statue was damaged at a home in the 4000 block of New Road.

Criminal damaging: A vehicle was damaged at Bill’s Place, 4771 Mahoning Ave.

Theft: A computer and router were stolen from the Hampton Inn, 880 N. Canfield-Niles Road.

Lost or stolen wallet: A wallet was reported lost or stolen at Walmart, 6001 Mahoning Ave.

Burglary: An attached garage was entered and golf clubs were stolen at a home in the 2000 block of Rome Drive.

Theft: A Discover card was stolen at Marc’s, 4755 Mahoning Ave.

Burglary: Shon M. Simon was arrested in a burglary at an apartment in the 4000 block of Woodhurst Drive.

Criminal damaging: A rear window of a vehicle was broken out at an apartment in the 900 block of Compass West apartments.

Disorderly conduct: Steven Spitzer, 21, 6642 Abbott Lane, was issued a summons alleging disorderly conduct at Superior Beverage, 425 Victoria Road.

Drug offense: Police issued summonses to Roxanne Johnson,22, 1151 Waverly Ave., Youngstown, charging possession of marijuana and Raymond Johnson, 45, same address, charging possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the 5400 block of Clarkins Drive.

Aug. 28

Criminal trespassing: Dale Carter, 22, 14316 High St., Petersburg, was issued a summons alleging criminal trespassing at a home in the 1000 block of Idaho Road after the owner found him in his hot tub.

Criminal mischief: Syrup and toothpaste were found on a car at a home in the 5000 block of Elmwood Avenue.

Criminal damaging: A vehicle was damaged at a home in the 2000 block of Oak Trace Drive.

Theft: Money was taken at Sunbrite, 4224 Mahoning Avenue.

Recovered property: A debit card was recovered at Home Savings & Loan, 4259 Kirk Road.

Personal injury: A dog bite was reported at a home in the 1000 block of N. Navarre Avenue.

Drug offense: Chad Kuti, 18, 4427 Aspen Drive, was issued a summons alleging possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia at a home in the 4000 block of Rita Avenue.

Aug. 29

Assault: A man is accused of assault at the Wedgewood Plaza, 1743 S. Raccoon Road.

Theft: Two cartons of cigarettes were stolen at the BP gas station, 890 N. Canfield-Niles Road.

Theft: An employee lost $60 to a quick-change suspect at Uncle Nick’s,136 N. Niles-Canfield Road.

Assault: Police charged Gina Majera,41, 13260 Orkney Ave., with assault on a male and released her on a summons in the 4000 block of New Road.
