No injunction against eating meat

No injunction against eating meat

The writer of the letter, “We eat without thinking”, doesn’t line up with the word of God in the Bible. The scriptures say that God told Noah in Genesis 9:3 that everything that lives and moves would now be food for him and his descendants. This is long after sin had entered the world.

In the books of Moses, it was God who commanded the blood sacrifice and many animals were slaughtered for this purpose. God also gave rules and regulations about which foods to eat and which to abstain from.

The scriptures also indicate that Jesus declared all foods clean in Mark 7:19 and then He said that it is not what goes into man that defiles him but rather what comes out of his inner being such as; evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly.

Jesus and the disciples ate fish and also lamb and probably other food from animals that were raised for that purpose. God said that man was to subdue and rule over the earth and the creatures in it.

Now we are being told not to torture these creatures or kill them for sport. The Apostle Paul clearly says in Romans 14 that some eat meat and some abstain and people should not judge each other in these matters. He shows that those who don’t eat meat are weak but that we should respect their decision.

Now because of the problems of obesity and medical conditions that are related to it, all people should seriously consider what they are eating and why they are eating it. If people ate good natural vegetables, fruits, whole grain and properly prepared amounts of meat, the whole country would be in better condition.
