Local companies make national list
WARREN
InterGroup International, a local company that provides sustainable plastic-scrap recycling, processing and recovery, has been ranked 239th on Inc. magazine’s 2010 listing of the nation’s 5,000 fastest-growing private companies. The company was ranked No. 1 in the manufacturing category. Founded in 2005, InterGroup has grown 1,285 percent over the last three years. The company has 25 employees and posted $3.2 million in revenue last year.
Vista Window, also based in Warren, was named the 27th fastest-growing manufacturing company. The company, which makes vinyl replacement windows, was ranked 1,495th overall.
Niles-based Jet Stream International came in 50th in the manufacturing category and was ranked 2,195th overall. The company manufactures the components used to support plumbing and electrical systems.
Other companies on the list included SenSource Inc., a Youngstown-based company that develops sensor technology, at No. 1,368, and software company Turning Technologies at No. 3,114.
Ohio Senate honors manufacturer
YOUNGSTOWN
State Sen. Joe Schiavoni of Canfield, D-33rd, presented Northern States Metals with a letter of commendation on behalf of the Ohio State Senate on Monday. The resolution lauds the Youngstown manufacturing company for its innovation in clean-energy technology and for its efforts to create local jobs.
Northern State Metals’ Solar FlexRack, a mounting system for solar panels, recently was named the Outstanding New Product of the Year by the Mahoning Valley Society of Professional Engineers.
The company is eligible to compete in the Ohio Society of Professional Engineers statewide competition in 2011.
Nominees sought for growth awards

Applications are being accepted for the 18th annual Mahoning Valley Growth Awards.
The awards, presented by Youngstown State University’s Williamson College of Business and the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber, are given in the following categories: percentage increase in sales, percentage increase in employees, percentage increase in exports, new businesses that have experienced sales and staff growth, and companies that have outstanding human-resource development programs.
The awards are open to all for-profit businesses in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties, as well as all members of the Regional Chamber. Honorees will be recognized at a breakfast Oct. 12 at Mr. Anthony’s in Boardman.
