HELOISE: Keeping a list of things to do

Dear Heloise: Being partly disabled, I keep a small notebook by my chair. I have a list of 10 things that I could, should or want to do each day. At the end of the day, I feel like I have accomplished something.

Frances, when you check off the things on that list, it’s like getting a gold star! So glad you wrote to share your hint with all of us.

Dear Readers: Bags that fresh-ground coffee is put in (from the supermarket) can be reused:

Stow small wet clothes and bathing suits when traveling.

Put wet, smelly or icky garbage in one.

Trim the bag and use to start seedlings.

Use as a small trash bag for the car.

Dear Heloise: I use liquid laundry soap, which comes with little cups for measuring your soap. I save them, and when I measure the soap for the machine, I just drop it in. At the end of the cycle, the cup is clean, and no mess, no bother to clean the cup.

Have you been spying on me in the laundry room? This is a longtime favorite hint of mine, and an easy way to prevent that gloppy mess.

Dear Heloise: To save on gas, when I go to the grocery store I usually have several errands to run. Quite often, I go to get groceries first because of my route. I keep a big cooler in my car trunk, and when I head to the store, I put several ice bricks in the cooler. I put my cold stuff in the cooler and don’t worry about it getting too warm on a hot summer day.
