SENIOR CITIZENS | Meetings, activities announced


1418 Auxiliary Seniors will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Brownstone Court, 50 Struthers-Coitsville Road, Coitsville, with John Texter presiding. Cancellations must be made by Monday to Sandy Redeske at 330-755-5192. Any call after that date will not be accepted. Birthdays and anniversaries will be acknowledged, and cards and bingo will be played. Illnesses or deaths should be reported to Ann Banyots at 330-783-2019.

Erie-Mahoning Valley Railroad Association will meet at noon Tuesday at Davidson’s Restaurant, 3636 Canfield Road, Cornersburg. Reports will be given, and birthdays will be recognized. All railroad retirees and their spouses are welcome.

Girard Senior Citizens will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the center, 16 N. State St. September birthdays and wedding anniversaries will be celebrated. After the business meeting, a dice game will be played.

Mahoning Retired Teachers Association will meet Sept. 8 at Antone’s Banquet Center, 8578 Market St., Boardman. The social hour will begin at 11 a.m., and lunch will be served at 11:45 a.m. The program will include the introduction of new retirees by Paul Rossi and information on AMBA member benefits by Kyle Hafner. Nonperishable canned goods, school supplies, current magazines and paperbacks will be collected. All area retired educators are invited. Martha Lupse 50-Plus Card and Game Club will meet from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursday in Room 106 at Poland United Methodist Church. Bridge, 500, chess and checkers will be played, and Lurana Cowher will give the devotions. Members are reminded to take a sack lunch; coffee and tea will be provided. St. Christine Seniors will meet at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the parish center. Reports will be given by Mary Jo Theis and Carol McClain. Serving as hosts will be Beverly Magda, MaryLou and Bill Hudak, Pat Kachurek and Helen Semeraro. September birthdays will be acknowledged and attendance prizes will be given. A 50-50 raffle is planned, along with bingo and card games.
