The Canfield girls tennis program is one of the top net programs in the Valley.

After the Cards knocked off defending Division I state champion Cleveland Magnificat last week, those around the state are taking notice of head coach Rob Stephens’ court juggernaut.

The Cardinals were 17-2 overall last season and won the All-American Conference, Red Tier by breezing through the league with a perfect 10-0 overall ledger. They lost three seniors from last year’s team, including Kelly Cuppler, Salena Nagy and Brina Sturgeon.

Of their top seven players this year, two are seniors, while three are sophomores and the other two juniors — all of whom are poised and ready to carry on without skipping a beat.

Of the 23 players comprising this year’s roster, six are seniors (Kaitlin Kaleen, Maggie Kamenitsa, Nicole Cordy, Alexxis Palumbo, Amanda Mosure and Amanda Ellis) and three are juniors (Gabrielle Brant, Michelle Firestone and Nicole Chahine).

There are seven sophomores (Allison Pavlansky, Stephanie Carroce, Paige Zwicker, Catherine Brown, Olivia Roy Sara Martinko and Arianna Ellis). Rounding out the roster are seven freshmen: Sarah Lytle, Jessica Houser, Mary Monda, Elise Szabo, Chrissy Mathews, Radhika Taneja and Bhamini Patel.
