The activity room at Poland library was filled with pirates Aug. 19, as children’s librarian Amanda Kollar hosted the “I Got Hooked on a Book” story time.
“This is one of our last events before school-year events kick in, so our plan was a jam-packed hour of fun,” said Kollar.
The busy and boisterous hour included pirate story time, a gold-coin treasure hunt, pin the parrot on the pirate and crafts for the children that made a pirate hat, patch and hook.
There was also plenty of active play, including a mermaid bean bag toss, four corners and a “walk the plank” game. During “walk the plank,” the children had to take a jump from their wood plank into a blue blanket, where they got a surprising splash from a spray bottle.
“As always, we just love getting the kids up and active,” Kollar said.
