COLUMBIANA
Monroe Central quarterback Tyler Kinchen engineered five scoring drives in Friday’s 34-26 victory over Columbiana.
Kinchen rushed for four touchdowns and threw a 56-yard touchdown pass to Zac Lindemood.
Monroe jumped out to a 28-7 lead at halftime before the Clippers rallied. Nick Roncone scored two fourth-quarter touchdowns to bring the Clippers to within eight points.
Columbiana had possession deep in Monroe territory when the game ended.
Kinchen rushed 22 times for 126 yards. He completed nine of 17 passes for 178 yards.
For the Clippers, Roncone rushed 19 times for 82 yards.
Quarterback Austin Barbato hit Mardell Halas for a 41-yard score. He completed 10 of 15 passes for 178 yards.
St. Clairsville 34, Crestview 24
St. Clairsville
Crestview’s quarterback Carter Hill threw for 153 yards on 11 completions, while leading in the rushing category for 118 yards. Hill connected with Jacob Danks for two touchdowns in the air, one for 50 yards and the other for 27.
Zack Kinnick’s 251 passing yards for St. Clairsville kept the Rebels from victory.
Pavin Stevenson rushed for 87 yards on 16 attempts.
United 40, Malvern 25
MALVERN
Josh McLaughlin ran for 201 yards and three TDs and passed for another 228 yards and another score to lead United, which outscored Malvern 19-6 in the second half to pull away.
Ryan Powell caught five passes for 81 yards and Josh Miller caught two passes for 79 yards.
Shawn Ball led Malvern with 97 yards rushing and 94 passing.
Southern 28, East Palestine 7
EAST PALESTINE
Brett Hunt, Zack Puckett, Michael Hipsley and Dominic Gibson had touchdown runs for the Indians.
Josh Melhorn led Southern with 98 yards on 22 carries.
The Indians’ defense limited the Bulldogs to minus 6 yards rushing on 13 tries.
The Bulldogs’ touchdown came on Derek Ross’ 5-yard pass to Travis Cope. Ross completed five of 13 passes for 61 yards.
