Fitch boys rally following halftime to stun Harding, 3-2

WARREN

Austintown Fitch trailed 2-0 at halftime before rallying for three goals to upsend Warren Harding, 3-2, in a boys soccer match on Thursday.

Fitch scored the last goal with six minutes remaining in the game.

Adam Justice, Nate Bowlen and Keanu Shelton scored for the Falcons (3-0), while Mike Shaffer added two assists and Ben Jankowski had one.

Chris Platton had four saves for Fitch.

Harding (0-2) got its goals from Moises Sosa and Micah Tatebe. Ja’Lyn Smith added an assist, and goalie Charlie Wargo made 12 saves. JVs: Fitch, 3-0.

Massillon Jackson 5, Mooney 1

MASSILLON

Pat Price scored Cardinal Mooney’s only goal in a 5-1 loss to Massillon Jackson in a boys soccer game on Thursday.

Byron Abrigg, another sophomore, had the assist for the Cardinals (0-1). Goalies Dalton Smith and David Perry had five saves apiece.

Mitch Griffiths, Joey Hallworth, James Haupt, Danny Baraldi and Ryan Galley scored for Jackson (1-0). JVs: Jackson 3-0.

Bristol 5, Mathews 0

VIENNA

Chad Oliver, Trevoe Rowles, Andy Holko, Dylan Rimer and David Campbell scored goals for Bristol, which led 2-0 at halftime. Holko added three assists, while Rowles and Coty Black had one each. Cody Urso had 10 saves for the Panthers.

Badger 5, Lordstown 0

KINSMAN

Troy Elsea had two goals and an assist for Badger (2-0). Allen Willey added a goal and assist for the Braves, while Greg Foust and Sean Dunfee also scored. Nick Fiest, Ben Meardith and Ken Bolyard added assists. Tyler Lucy had seven saves in goal for Badger and Taylor Matson had four. Lordstown (0-1) goalie Chris Whitefield had 11 saves.

Heartland Christian 7, Jackson-Milton 0

NORTH JACKSON

Daniel Walsh had two goals, while Christian Stryffeler, Durand Foutz, Owen Stryffeler and Durand Winnale added single points for Heartland (3-0).

Ryan Benner had five saves and Drew Fountain stopped four shots for Heartland, while Jackson-Milton’s Josh Tanner stopped all but seven of Heartland’s 22 shots.

GIRLS

Leavittsburg

LaBrae opened its season with an 11-0 victory over Streetsboro, as six players scored.

Junior Gabby Borawiec led the way with four goals for the Vikings, while senior Julie Gibson had three. Other scorers were Kriscinda Frazier, Laura Hall, Danielle Miracle, and Nikole Rininger. Senior Katelyn Downey had two assists and Rininger had one.

JFK 9, Badger 1

WARREN

Erin McBride, a senior, scored three times to lead JFK (3-0), while Nicole Rodomsky and Natalie Hoso added two goals each. Caitlyn Rodomsky and Kelli Guarnieri scored once each, with assists by Adrian Ashdown, Mora Lucero and Guarnieri. Kelsey Case had two saves. Kayleen Meredith scored for Badger (0-2), and Megan Hunkus had 14 saves. JVs: JFK 6-0.
