Suspended police officer saves baby

FELICITY, Ohio (AP) — A suspended Ohio police captain facing a possible prison term is being called a hero for saving a baby from a burning car.

Felicity police Capt. Delmas Pack says he spotted a car flipped over near his home Monday afternoon in Clermont County just east of Cincinnati. He says the 20-year-old driver was in shock and there was fire under the hood.

He opened the door to free her and then climbed in to get the 5-month-old boy unstrapped and out of the car. Driver Rhiannon Ward says he saved her son Dane’s life as witnesses warned that the car might explode.

Pack pleaded not guilty earlier this month to charges of tampering with evidence and records.
