Yanni’s drummer at percussion event
COLUMBIANA
Universal Percussion will sponsor a free drum celebration at 7 p.m. Sunday in Columbiana Park, not far from Universal’s headquarters. Charlie Adams — known for his many years as the drummer for composer and concert artist Yanni — will perform and will also sit in with the South Range High School band on some special arrangements. Softball tourney

The Saving Second Base softball tournament will begin at 10 a.m. Sunday at Austintown Township Park. Judge Elizabeth Kobly, a breast-cancer survivor, will throw out the first pitch. The National Anthem will be sung by the ROCcK Children’s Choir. The event will benefit local breast-cancer programs.
Semi truck pulls at Yankee Lake

The Northwest Truck & Tractor Pullers Association will host diesel 4x4 and street-legal semi truck pulls Friday night at Truck Night at Yankee Lake. The public can attempt to pull the sled for $10 per pull. Gates open at 6 p.m. Spectator admission is $5; truck admission to participate in the mud bogs, tug-o-wars and rock crawls is $10.
Stage Door opens second location

The Stage Door school for performing arts in Columbiana will open its second location this fall at 982 Tibbetts-Wick Road. Registration will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 4.
