Police suspect same man involved in both bank robberies

SHARPSVILLE, PA.

The PNC Bank at 102 North Mercer Ave. was robbed of an undetermined amount of money at 11 a.m. Wednesday by a masked white male who used the same mode of operation as the man who robbed Huntington Bank in Girard at 1 p.m. Tuesday.

The thief, who showed a knife to a teller and demanded money, escaped on foot along Mercer, according to Sharpsville police Sgt. James Knapp, who said investigation of the robbery has been turned over to the FBI.
