POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

Aug. 19

Harassment: A Shawbutte Drive woman filed a report alleging harassment.

Harassment: A Clyde Street man reported having been harassed.

Aug. 20

Arrest: A traffic stop on state Route 170 led to the arrest of 30-year-old William B. Woods, 531 W. Como St., Struthers, who was cited on a charge of driving under suspension and wanted on a warrant from Columbiana County.

Criminal damaging: Two windows were damaged at a home in the 8400 block of Chesterton Drive.

BOARDMAN

Aug. 20

Theft: A Canfield woman at the Southern Park Mall reported the theft of a bag containing a digital camera and accessories, and makeup.

Burglary/assault: A man in the 800 block of Cook Avenue told police six people kicked in his apartment door and repeatedly punched him.

Theft: Frank A. Napolitano III, 30, of 779 Glen Park Road, Boardman, faced six felony counts of theft of a firearm and one felony charge of theft after a family member discovered numerous firearms and pieces of jewelry missing. Napolitano admitted having pawned some of the jewelry, a report said.

Breaking and entering: Someone broke into a bay at the former Circuit City site, 7230 Market St., though nothing appeared to be missing.

Theft: Numerous pieces of jewelry were taken from a residence in the 70 block of Clifton Drive.

Burglary: Someone kicked open the garage door to a vacant home in the 700 block of Glenbrook Road, then removed copper pipes from the basement.

Theft: A small sum of money and a bank card were removed from a car on East Western Reserve Road.

Assault/damage: A woman told police a Prestwick Drive woman tossed a bicycle and its broken pedal at the accuser’s daughter, striking the daughter in the face with the pedal.

Criminal damaging: A key was used to damage much of a truck’s driver’s side at a Market Street business.

Aggravated menacing: Wayne M. Patrick, 52, of 850 Indianola Road, Boardman, was charged after a Meadville, Pa., man alleged that an intoxicated Patrick threatened him with a knife.

Theft: A $500 address post was missing from a residence in the 7300 block of Eisenhower Drive.

Assault: A woman reported her 9-year-old son was punched while in the 300 block of Boardman-Poland Road. The boy suffered a deep cut to his lower lip.

Theft: A dryer was removed from the bed of a truck at a Tiffany Boulevard business.

Possible theft: A Boardman man reported his wallet lost or stolen while at a Tiffany Boulevard eatery.

Burglary: To an apartment in the 6000 block of Applecrest Court, where a $3,000 living-room set, a computer, a microwave oven, a blender and two other items were stolen. The loss came to $3,830.

Theft: Niakiea L. Lindsey, 33, of 3306 Tangent St., Youngstown, was charged in the theft of a shirt and a pair of jeans from Macy’s in the Southern Park Mall.

Aug. 21

Assault: A Youngstown woman at a Market Street business told police another woman punched the accuser’s left cheek, struck her four or five times with a set of keys and pulled her hair. She had several injuries.

Domestic violence: Doreen McCarthy, 47, faced a felony count after being arrested at her residence, 4131 Glenwood Ave., Boardman. McCarthy’s husband alleged she had punched him in the face during an argument.

Burglary: To an apartment in the 6300 block of South Avenue via the front door. Among the items stolen were a 37-inch TV, a laptop computer and a DVD player.

Theft: A North Lima man at a McClurg Road business reported the theft of $90 and a debit card.

Aggravated menacing: A Boardman-Canfield Road man reported another person, as part of a dispute, threatened to come to the accuser’s residence and harm him.

Assault: A New Castle, Pa., woman alleged that a chef at a Market Street restaurant tossed a hot egg, striking her 6-year-old daughter and causing a first-degree burn to the child’s forehead.

Theft: A surround-sound system, a toaster, a bass speaker and a 27-inch TV were removed from a residence in the 20 block of Melrose Avenue.

Aug. 22

Robbery: A man in his 20s wearing a baseball cap, blue jeans and a blue T-shirt grabbed an undisclosed amount of money from a register at a Speedway gas station, 859 E. Midlothian Blvd., and fled on foot.

Theft: A 15-year-old Youngstown girl was charged with stealing 12 articles of women’s clothing from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive, and released to the custody of her mother. Charged with complicity to theft was Latasha A. Dixon, 26, of 740 Kendis Circle, Youngstown.

Stolen property: A township boy, 15, was charged with receiving stolen property after a bicycle he was accused of stealing was found near Erie Street.

Menacing: Two Willow Drive residents reported a neighbor threatened to harm them as part of a dispute.

Recovered property: A toolbox and a compact-disc player were returned after two Mathews Road men reported the property stolen.

Theft/criminal damaging: A vehicle from which a license plate and a stereo were stolen had been ransacked in the 100 block of Mathews Road.

Breaking and entering: Two dog leashes were stolen from a garage someone had entered in the 6100 block of West Boulevard.

Theft: Money was missing from a safe at a Boardman-Canfield Road fast-food restaurant.

Assault: A man alleged his former girlfriend slapped him twice and spit on him at a Boardman-Poland Road store.

Aug. 23

Aggravated menacing/damage: Someone shot BBs at a residence in the 900 block of Moyer Avenue, causing about 25 dents. Also, another person reported having been threatened.

Burglary: Occurred in the 4800 block of Erie Street through a front window. Money and firearms were missing.

Theft: Money was stolen from a West Boulevard woman.

Theft: A $560 ring was removed from a home in the 6800 block of Lockwood Boulevard.

Theft: A man at a McClurg Road business discovered a set of keys and a cell phone stolen.

Theft: Deena L. Williamson, 40, of 2216 Sprucewood Drive, Youngstown, was charged with taking nine articles of clothing from Old Navy Clothing Store, 377 Boardman-Poland Road.

Drug paraphernalia: Jessica L. Beule, 20, of 868 Cook Ave., Boardman, was pulled over and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia when, officers said, a suspected marijuana pipe was found.

Theft/criminal damaging: A vehicle at a Market Street business had a window smashed and its console damaged before speakers were removed.

Criminal damaging: A car sustained damage to its driver’s side at a Market Street dealership.

Aggravated menacing: A Glenwood Avenue man reported receiving 10 calls with threats to kill him and his family.
