Man charged in NY shooting deaths of 4 near bar

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — A man has been charged with murder in a shooting outside a New York restaurant that killed four people including a Texas man celebrating his first wedding anniversary.

A news release from Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown says Riccardo McCray has been charged with four counts of second-degree murder. McCray is expected to be arraigned Thursday.

McCray surrendered Wednesday at a television studio. He was accompanied by community activist Darnell Jackson, who says McCray told him he didn’t kill anyone and didn’t know why police were looking for him.

About 200 people were on a sidewalk outside a downtown Buffalo restaurant early Aug. 14 when a gunman opened fire and killed a man from Austin, Texas, and three others.

A parolee was arrested within hours and was charged with murder, but the charges were dismissed the next day.
