A summary of police activity in the city of Canfield and Austintown:

CANFIELD

Aug. 16

Vandalism: A glass door at Sun City Tanning, 558 E. Main St. was broken.

Aug. 17

Illegal processing of drug documents: Police arrested Katelin Kelley, 24, of 1090 Bristol Champion Townline Road, Bristolville, about presenting a forged prescription for Vicodin at CVS Pharmacy, 601 E. Main St.

Missing laptop: A resident of the 100 block of Kings Lane reported a $1,299 laptop was missing.

Aug. 19

Warrant: Minerva police arrested Lawrence Plavka, 40, of 101 E. Line St., Minerva, on a Canfield warrant charging contempt of court for failure to pay a fine. He was brought to the Canfield Police Department, where he made arrangements to pay the fine and was released.

Aug. 20

Drug paraphernalia: Police arrested Tony Bennett of Delaware on a charge of drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop on West Main Street. Police found a glass pipe with suspected marijuana residue, a marijuana grinder and digital scale with suspected marijuana residue.

Theft: A carrier for The Vindicator and his wife witnessed the theft of newspapers in front of Dollar Tree, 405 E. Main St.

Drug paraphernalia: Police arrested Anthony Tommer, 19, of 6922 Berry Blossom Drive, in the possession of drug paraphernalia and drug abuse after finding a packet of rolling papers, a bottle of empty capsules and a small bag of suspected marijuana.

Aug. 22

Drug abuse: Police arrested Michael Verbanovic, 53, of 6841 Lockwood Blvd., Boardman, on a charge of drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop at West Main and Wadsworth streets. Police said they found a wooden smoke pipe with suspected marijuana residue.

AUSTINTOWN

Aug. 16

Theft: A GPS was taken from a vehicle but was later located in the yard at a home in the 3000 block of Edinburgh Drive.

Theft: A CD and personal clothing items were taken from an auto parked in the 3000 block of Cannon Road. Some items were located in the yard.

Recovered property: A woman’s wallet and its contents were recovered at New Road and Moorefield Avenue.

Criminal damaging: Tires were cut on a vehicle parked at an apartment in the 4000 block of Westchester Drive.

Burglary: There was no forced entry in a burglary at an apartment in the 1000 block of Fountain Square.

Theft: Police charged Megan Young, 30, of 407 State Road NW, Warren, with theft at Walmart, 6001 Mahoning Ave.

Aug. 17

Drug offense: Police charged John Noble, 58, of 3832 Eigen St., with possession of drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop at Mahoning Avenue and Wickliffe Circle.

Auto theft/recovered property: A 1998 Chevrolet Lumina was stolen at Pilot Oil, 1150 N. Canfield-Niles Road and later recovered by Youngstown police.

Menacing: A man is accused of menacing at a home in the 3000 block of South Raccoon Road.

Criminal mischief: A trailer was spray-painted at Lloyd Elementary School, 5705 Norquest Blvd.

Breaking and entering: Copper waterlines were taken from a home in the 5000 block of Heron Boulevard.

Attempted burglary: A screen was cut with a pen on the second floor of an apartment in the 4000 block of Mahoning Avenue.

Warrant: Richard White Jr., Youngstown-Hubbard Road, Youngstown, was picked up at Portage County jail on a warrant charging failure to appear on a possession-of-drugs charge issued from Mahoning County Area Court here.

Theft: An Apple iPod with its charger were stolen from an auto parked in a driveway in the 3000 block of Sandalwood Court.

Theft: An Apple iPod and its base were stolen from an auto parked in a driveway in the 3000 block of White Beach Lane.

Theft: A man is suspected of stealing a video game from Walmart.

Theft: Two men stole two computers from Walmart.

Auto theft: A 1997 BMW was stolen at International Auto, 64 S. Meridian Road.

Aug. 18

Dumping: A male suspect is accused of dumping at a home in the 2000 block of Birch Trace Drive.

Theft: A park bench was stolen and recovered damaged and burned at Davidson’s Restaurant, 3636 Canfield Road.

Burglary: A camcorder was taken from a home in the 5000 block of Winthrop Drive.

Recovered property: A Sony digital camera was recovered in the 5000 block of Kirk Road.

Drug offense: Police charged Brittany Morgan, 20, of 1061 Perkinswood Boulevard SE, Warren, with possession of drug instruments, drug paraphernalia, possession of dangerous drugs, including Trazodone, and drug abuse of Klonopin at Woodside Elementary School, 4105 Elmwood Ave.

Criminal damaging: A vehicle window was damaged in the 100 block of North Canfield-Niles Road.

Domestic violence: Police charged David Priest, 24, of 4696 New Road, with domestic violence after an incident at his home.

Aug. 19

Criminal trespass: Dawna Martin, 25, no address listed, was released on a summons on a charge of criminal trespass at the Pilot Truck lot, 1150 N. Canfield-Niles Road.

Disorderly conduct: Police issued two summonses to John Winwood, 39, of 131 N. Kimberly Ave., charging disorderly conduct and resisting arrest at Baker Street and Kimberly Avenue.

Theft: A check was taken at a home in the 5000 block of Radcliffe Avenue.

Criminal damaging: Pellet holes were made in the siding of a home in the 4000 block of Barrington Drive.

Fraud: A $600 debit transaction was reported against an account at Farmer’s National Bank, 22 N. Canfield-Niles Road.

Burglary: Police charged Tracy Monteneri, 41, of 6373 Mahoning Ave., Warren, with burglary. Police said she stole girls Nike shoes from a garage at a home in the 5000 block of Winslow Drive.

Theft: A wallet was stolen from an auto parked at Meridian Arms, 650 S. Meridian Road.

Aug. 20

Aggravated menacing: A woman was victim of menacing at a home in the 4000 block of Kirk Road.

Theft: Coins were stolen from a home in the 2000 block of Innwood Drive.

Warrant: Police arrested Tara Atwood, 21, of 3239 Lewis-Seifert Road, Hubbard, on a warrant charging failure to appear on a case out of Campbell Municipal Court. She was stopped at Mahoning and Navarre avenues.

Theft: A Visa debit card was stolen at a home in the 200 block of North Roanoke Ave.

Drug offense: Police charged Thomas J. Spicker II, 20, of 257 N. Main St., with drug abuse of marijuana after his arrest at North Main Street and Oakwood Avenue.

Theft: Jewelry was left on a night stand and stolen at Country Inn, 5570 Interstate Boulevard.

Aug. 21

Theft: Car keys were stolen at Infocision, 5749 Interstate Boulevard.

Fraud: Unauthorized charges to an account were reported at home in the 7000 block of Kirk Road.

Theft: Fuel was taken from an auto at the TA Travel Center, 5400 Seventy-Six Drive.

Attempted burglary: A door frame was damaged at a home in the 50 block of Parkgate Avenue.

Theft: Police charged Joseph Mix, 24, of 1211 Cavalcade Drive, in a theft from Walmart.

Criminal damaging: A vehicle and a mailbox were damaged at a home in the 6000 block of Fairview Avenue.

Disorderly conduct: Police issued a summons to David A. Devellin, 23, of 9914 West Hill Drive, Canfield, charging disorderly conduct at the Austintown Plaza, 6000 Mahoning Ave.

Aug. 22

Lost or stolen property: A woman’s ring was missing after an altercation at the Ice House Inn, 5516 W. Webb Road.

Felonious assault: Police charged Thomas O’Donnell, no age or address listed, with felonious assault in a stabbing in the 1000 block of Compass West apartments.

Theft: A stereo was stolen from an auto in the 2000 block of Rosemont Drive.

Warrant: Police arrested William Slator, 48, of 310 Forest Hill Drive, on a warrant charging failure to appear on a traffic charge.

Theft: A basketball hoop was stolen and later recovered in the 40 block of Parkgate Ave.

Domestic violence: Police charged Earl Quinn, 37, with the crime at his home, 4852 Shadow Oak Drive.
