Lawyers for several defendants indicted in the sale of Oakhill Renaissance Place are demanding more information from prosecutors.

Representing Anthony Cafaro Sr., Flora Cafaro, The Cafaro Company, Ohio Valley Mall Company and The Marion Plaza, Inc., lawyers presented a motion for a bill of particulars to Judge William Wolff Jr. on Monday.

In the motion, the defense asked the prosecution β€œto provide them with greater specificity concerning the allegations in the indictment.”

Special prosecutor Paul M. Nick previously has said that the details of the criminal charges likely will be filed in a lengthy bill of particulars a few days after the Sept. 9 pretrial hearing.

Anthony Cafaro Sr., Flora Cafaro and the three entities are accused of trying to block the purchase of Oakhill Renaissance Place by Mahoning County officials.

They, along with county Commissioner John A. McNally IV, county Auditor Michael Sciortino, former county Treasurer John Reardon, former director of Mahoning County Job and Family Services John Zachariah and attorney Martin Yavorcik were indicted by a grand jury July 29.

All have pleaded innocent to the charges. If convicted, they could face prison time.

The bill of particulars will give specific information, including the dates and times of the alleged offenses.

Of the 73-counts in the 41-page indictment, Anthony Cafaro Sr. faces two counts of engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, two counts of conspiracy, three counts of perjury, four counts of bribery and three counts of money laundering.

Flora Cafaro is accused of money laundering.
