SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.

Nuevo Laredo, Mexico eliminated Manati, Puerto Rico from the Little League World Series after a 4-2 win Monday.

The evening games were cancelled because of rain.

The game between Ohio and Georgia was called off with one out in the bottom of the first, but Little League rules state those stats will be erased and the game restarted because it did not go at least 31/2 innings.

Connecticut and Washington never got started Monday night. Little League has not announced when those games will be played today.

Aaron Juarez scored the go-ahead run on an error as Mexico took advantage of mistake-prone Puerto Rico.

With the bases loaded, second baseman Kelvin Escobar fielded a bouncer but his throw home was mishandled by catcher Victor Valentin, allowing Juarez to score — one of seven Puerto Rico errors.

One batter later, Enrique Penaloza scored after a blooper to short right fell in between three fielders.

Eduardo Mata pitched a five-hitter, striking out Joshuan Sandoval to end the game.

Taiwan 23, Canada 0

Shao-Fei Huang drove in six runs and Hsun Hao Shih hit two long homers to lead Kaohsiung, Taiwan, over Vancouver, Canada.

Taiwan scored six runs in the first, then seven in each of the next two innings. Huang had a two-run double in the first, a two-run single in the second, an RBI double in the third and an RBI single in the fourth.

Shih had a two-run homer in the second inning and another in the third.

Huang has four doubles in the series, tying a record set by two Taiwan players in 1995. The 23 runs is the third most in a game by one team since 1992.

Three Taiwan pitchers combined on a one-hitter, allowing just Matthew Reyes’ first-inning single.

Germany 2, Minnesota 1

Kyle Foley scored the go-ahead run after reaching base on an overturned call to lift Ramstein Air Force Base, Germany, past Plymouth, Minn.

Foley was initially called out on a play at first in the fifth. Replay officials reversed the call after manager Gary Harrington challenged.

Foley moved to second on a fielder’s choice, then scored on a passed ball.

Minnesota put two runners on with two outs in the sixth, but Jonathan Oswald got Talor Blustin to ground out to end the game.
