Fitch girls upend Cardinal Mooney in soccer opener

Meghan Shonce and Kaitlyn Shiley each scored a goal, leading Austintown Fitch over Cardinal Mooney, 2-0, in a high school girls soccer game on Monday.

Fitch goalkeeper Ali Tolich didn’t have to make a save as the Falcons (1-0) held the Cardinals (0-1) without a shot on goal

Tori Koch had an assist for the Falcons.

Poland 3, Salem 1

SALEM

Tatum Marucci scored twice and assisted on another goal for Poland, which outshot Salem 20-3.

Erin Gabriel also scored and Jeana Visingardi had an assist.

Abby Frank made two saves.

For Salem, Chelsea Fuson scored and Kaitlyn Kelm had 10 saves. JVs: Poland 5-1.

Liberty

Amanda Pavlak had three goals, and Lisa Holmes added another for the Indians (1-0).

Senior Erin McBride scored four goals en route to the Eagles’ first win of the year.

McBride scored three times in the first half, and added another goal early in the second half. She also had two assists.

Angela Guiliano scored three goals, and seven players had one each for the Tigers (1-0).

Jennifer Bjelac, Brooke Rodgers, Rachel Ellis, Racquell Mayfield, Shannon Montgomery, Nikita Rast and Haley Zelle all found the back of the net for Newton Falls.

Columbiana

Zach Moore provided all the offense for Crestview in a 4-0 victory over East Palestine.

Moore scored all four goals, on assists by Clay Linhart, Tanner Goss and Alex DeSalvo .

Ethan Fiest scored three goals, Wyatt Ford had two and Mike Ponikvar had one as the Mustangs (1-0) were able to roll.
