A summer of learning

A summer of learning

As summer comes to an end and school comes to a beginning, I learned a lot this summer, a lot of lessons, good and bad.

I spent most of my time at the Girls and Boys Club. We went from Waldermeer to Jillians, but the most important place was St. Vincent DePaul’s soup kitchen. We washed dishes and helped make lunches. There were a lot of people in line waiting for food. We were amazed at how many people were in line and needed help with food. And I think we did a good thing because we were helping people when they needed it the most.

This made us realize how important food is, and how lucky we are to have the food we want when we want it. We will never take food for granted ever again. We are thankful for the food we have. Our prayers go out for the people that don’t have the food they want when they want.
