Ron Daniels returns to Youngstown on Thursday to discuss Haiti, black crises
YOUNGSTOWN — Dr. Ron Daniels, veteran social and political activist and a leading figure in the civil- and human-rights movement in Youngstown for many years, will discuss the state of the
recovery/reconstruction in Haiti and his perspective on the crises in black America at
7 p.m. Thursday at St. Augustine Episcopal Church, 614 Parmalee Ave., behind St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Daniels is in town for the 50th reunion of The Rayen School’s Class of 1960.
Daniels is founder of Freedom Inc. and a former instructor at Youngstown State University. For nearly two decades, he was host of a public-affairs television program on WYTV-Channel 33.
He is president of the Institute of the Black World 21st Century (www.ibw21.org) and a distinguished lecturer at York College, City University of New York.
